St. Joseph School concluded Catholic Schools Week with its annual Preschool and Elementary Family Picnic, a generational tradition that brings families together in celebration of faith, community, and shared history.

Preschool and elementary students, parents, faculty, and staff gathered for a day of games, simple joy, and time together. The picnic reflected the school’s emphasis on belonging, family partnership, and relationship building.

Held each year during Catholic Schools Week, the event highlights the role of family in Catholic education. For many, it carries special meaning, as parents and relatives who once attended St. Joseph School now return with their own children.

“This gathering reminds us that St. Joseph School is more than a place of learning,” said school teaching staff. “It is a community built across generations, grounded in faith, and strengthened by shared experiences.”

Now in its 157th year, St. Joseph School continues to serve the Hilo community through academic excellence, spiritual formation, and a strong sense of community. The Family Picnic served as a joyful close to Catholic Schools Week, reaffirming the school’s commitment to faith and family.
