Dinner with Distinguished SJS Alumnus Ivan Lui-Kwan, Class of ’63

December 8, 2025

This weekend, students and teacher participants of the Hawaiki Atua program in New Zealand reunited for a special evening hosted by prestigious SJS graduate, Ivan Lui-Kwan ’63. In attendance from St. Joseph School were Athletic Director Mike Costales, seniors Jaselle Kamaka-Mauhili and Connor Faletoi, and Head of School Kumu Kipapa. Held at the Lui-Kwan residence, the gathering offered a warm and meaningful opportunity for everyone to reconnect after several months apart. The students and chaperones were thrilled to see each other again, sharing stories, laughter, and memories from their transformative summer experience.

As part of the Hawaiki Atua program’s mission to inspire the youth of Hawaiʻi to take on leadership roles in their communities, Ivan invited several honorable guests to join the dinner. This provided students with a valuable opportunity to ask questions about various career paths and learn from accomplished professionals. Among the distinguished guests were Crystal Ho, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating & Financial Officer of Outrigger Hotels; Darlyn Scovell, State Legislator; Senator Sharon Moriwaki; and many other esteemed community leaders.

St. Joseph School is extremely honored and privileged to have Mr. Lui-Kwan’s unwavering support in uplifting the next generation of leaders. We extend a special mahalo to Kumu Kipapa for providing students with opportunities that strengthen their career readiness and connect them with influential mentors.

A heartfelt mahalo to the Lui-Kwans for generously opening their home and hosting this memorable evening.

Go Cardinals!
