SJS Honors Our Veterans

SJS Honors Our Veterans

November 12, 2025

Members of our school were invited to march with the Arianoff family and their family-owned business, Puro Clean, in the annual Veterans Day Parade. Mr. Rojas, school board member and parent, can be seen taking a photo with our SJS ʻohana.

This weekend, Mayor Kimo Alameda, a proud St. Joseph School alumnus, joined our community in honoring the brave men and women who have served our country. Reflecting on his time at SJS, Mayor Alameda shared, “There are many good things about my upbringing at St. Joseph School. Every class, from kindergarten to senior year, we would get up every morning and recite the Pledge of Allegiance—and they would teach us about the flag.”

Deacon Charlie Mapa, clergy of St. Joseph Parish, offered a special blessing for our veterans, extending prayers of gratitude and peace. Olga Arianoff, a dedicated SJS sophomore, graciously served as the lei greeter, welcoming our honored guests with aloha and respect.

We also extend a heartfelt mahalo to our ʻOhana Arianoff for their exceptional dedication to honoring our veterans. Mrs. Arianoff, our elementary administrative assistant, shared that honoring those who served is a treasured family tradition. Over the weekend, she and her ʻohana placed flags on the graves of veterans and volunteered at Pōhakuloa Training Area as part of the USO, helping to feed over a thousand soldiers from across the nation and from Africa. Their family also lovingly prepared and delivered cookies and sandwiches for our local veterans.

To all who have served—thank you. Your courage and sacrifice inspire us every day to live with purpose, gratitude, and compassion.
