St. Joseph School Students Showcase “Symbols of Unity in the Catholic Church” Art Exhibit
Hilo, HI – September 29 – St. Joseph School proudly announces a special student art exhibit titled Symbols of Unity in the Catholic Church. This unique collection highlights the creativity and faith of middle school students who were asked to create three-dimensional works of art symbolizing the unity of the Church.
As part of their Theology curriculum, students were given the challenge to design a symbol that reflects the Catholic Church as the Body of Christ, the People of God, and a community united by faith, sacraments, and mission. Using materials such as clay, wood, wire, fabric, and paint, each student brought their vision to life, crafting meaningful works that show how the Church is strengthened by Christ at its center.
“These pieces are more than art projects,” said Mrs. Villena, campus minister. “They are personal reflections of faith. Each student put thought and prayer into how unity in the Church can be represented in a creative way. From shepherds and doves to crosses, Bibles, and medallions, the works reveal the depth of their understanding and imagination.”
The exhibit will be on display at St. Joseph School, inviting families, parishioners, and the wider community to view and reflect on the students’ creations. Visitors are welcome to enjoy the exhibit and read each student’s explanation of their work.
