Kukui Class Charity Project: Easter Baskets

"Kukui Class Charity Project: Easter Baskets"

April 14, 2025

This Easter season, the 8th Grade Kukui Class, wanted to enlighten meaningfulness, bring a little light, joy, and hope to others. With love in their hearts and purpose in their hands, they decided to create Easter baskets for the amazing individuals and families in the Domestic Violence Advocacy Program at Child and Family Services.

The Domestic Violence Advocacy program provides support and education to victims/survivors.  The program's goal is to assist participants to overcome the barriers of their victimization and move toward self-sufficiency. Participants gain knowledge of domestic violence and its impact on themselves and their children, to include increasing the parent child bond and giving parents tools to help encourage child/children’s resilience.

Each basket was filled not just with goodies, but with care, prayers, and encouragement. The 8th Graders wanted these baskets to be a small reminder that the victims/survivors are seen, valued, and never alone.  Also to connect and spread the message that healing and hope are possible.

With grace, all the Easter baskets were personally blessed by Bishop Larry Silva from the Diocese of Honolulu. His blessing was a powerful reminder that God’s love surrounds all of us, especially in times of healing and renewal.

Go Cardinals!
