Calling all Interested Youth

The County of Hawaiʻi Youth Commission is now accepting applications. The Mayor encourages all qualified youths to apply for this opportunity. Its purpose is to identify the aspirations, needs, and concerns of the county’s youth; examine and devise strategies that support or improve existing social, economic, educational, health, and recreational programs for youth, or develop new programs and submit such recommendations thereon to the council and mayor for consideration and action; advise the council and mayor on the effects of legislative policies, needs, assessments, priorities, programs, and budgets concerning the county’s youth.
The age requirement is 14 - 24. Initial appointments will be for one or two years depending upon the location of their residence or mayoral selection. Thereafter, commissioners will serve staggered two-year terms.
