MARCH FOR LIFE 2024 CONTEST
The Respect Life Office would like to hold a March for Life 2024 Contest for students. They hope to kickstart this Contest on October 1, 2023 and end it on October 20, 2023 during Respect Life Month.
The theme for this year has not been officially revealed; it is usually disclosed by late October. We do know it will be in alignment with a call to “Radical Solidarity”. Radical Solidarity means together with one heart and mind, we put our love for others into action.
Thus we have chosen a theme specifically for Hawaii that coincides with radical solidarity, it is Aloha Kekahi i Kekahi, a Call to Love One Another.
In conjunction with this theme, we are holding a pro-life youth contest, which has a two-fold goal:
1. To help young people deepen their understanding of our God-given human dignity and what it means for our daily lives and decisions, particularly within the context of respect for human life;
2. To move hearts and minds with the joyful Gospel of Life through the artistic expressions of the young participants.
The contest is designed to be used across multiple age ranges and disciplines.
The March for Life Planning Committee will select winners for each grade category: Grades Pre-K to 1; Grades 2-4; Grades 5-8 and Grades 9-12. The winners will be honored with a monetary gift, announcement in the Catholic Herald and walk alongside The Most Reverend Larry Silva, Bishop of Honolulu and the Knights of Columbus at the March for Life at the state capitol on January 19, 2024.
Attached is information and the forms that you will need to participate in the contest.
