Blessing of the Advent Wreath

On Wednesday, November 30, the elementary students gathered in the breezeway to join Father Poli in the blessing of this year's Advent Wreath. Advent, derived from the Latin word adventus, which means "coming", is the first season of the Church year. It is a period of preparation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus.

It is observed the four Sundays before Christmas Day. The first week represents Isaiah and other prophets in the Bible that predicted the coming of Jesus. The second represents the Bible. The third week represents Mary, the mother of Jesus and the fourth represents John the Baptist, Jesus' cousin, who told the people of Israel to get ready for Jesus' teaching.

As we enter this festive season, we would like to wish you and your ʻohana health and prosperity. May this be a time of fellowship with family and friends filled with love and laughter. Mele Kalikimaka!
