This past weekend's weather wreaked havoc on Bay Front. Canoes were damaged and debris was left littered all over the place.
On Sunday, November 27, our SJS paddlers and their families joined paddlers from Nā Waʻa Hanakahi to clean up the area where we all practice. It was a major undertaking! Below, Uncle Lloyd, poʻo of Nā Waʻa Hanakahi, and Taʻapai, one of the adult paddlers from the hālau, chain saw through some massive logs. Everyone helped to move and pile rubbish.
Above, one of the three piles of debris that were gathered in the timespan of 2 hours. We are extemely proud of our student athletes for stepping up and sacrificing their time to kōkua. Thank you to their families for their help and a huge mahalo to Uncle Lloyd and Nā Waʻa Hanakahi for allowing St. Joseph School to use your canoes and learn from you. We appreciate you all!
