Exceptional Class of 2017

 

Friday May 26, 2017 4pm Baccalaureate Mass and Graduation to follow at St. Joseph church

St. Joseph Jr-Sr High School is pleased to announce it will graduate 26 outstanding students on May 26 at St. Joseph Church.  Due to the caliber of this year’s graduating students, the administration and faculty are excited that a total of four students have earned their place in the top two graduating positions with one valedictorian and three salutatorians.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Valedictorian Kaile Marie Nami Holzman has been a student of St. Joseph School since first grade.  Kaile, the daughter of Mark and Wanda Holzman, will attend California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo with a major in computer science.  This hard-working young woman has completed six Advanced Placement courses, is a member of the National Honor Society, and President of the Senior Class.  Kaile volunteers at Big Island Book Buyers and has competed as a Cardinal in volleyball, golf, and cheerleading.

Salutatorian Jasmine-Rae Peregrino de la Cruz has attended St. Joseph School since first grade.  Jasmine-Rae is the daughter of Robert and Jocelyn de la Cruz.  She will be attending the University of Hawaii at Manoa in the fall and will major in biology on a pre-med track. Jasmine has completed six Advanced Placement courses at St. Joseph School and is the Student Council Vice President, has volunteered 80 hours at the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, and 101 hours at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center, and competed in volleyball and golf as a Cardinal.

Salutatorian Striesand Tumaneng Galdones has attended St. Joseph School since pre-school.  Striesand, a member of the National Honor Society, will major in biology on a pre-med track at the University of Portland, Oregon beginning this fall.  Striesand has completed four Advanced Placement courses, is the Secretary of Student Council and volunteers at the Hilo Medical Center OB department.  She has competed in the All-BIIF Volleyball Div. II, tennis, and cheerleading for the St. Joseph Cardinals.  Striesand is the daughter of Ric and Magelin Galdones.

Salutatorian Daniel Shogo Honda has been a St. Joseph Cardinal since the fifth grade.  Daniel placed seventh in the BIIF riflery competition, is a National Honor Society member who has completed five Advanced Placement courses.  Daniel will attend the University of California San Diego in the fall.  He is the son of Naoki and Rose Mary Honda.
